This is our Halloween costumes this year. I am the "Bump in the road" and Steve is the construction worker. :)
Being pregnant is such a fun and exciting feeling. I love my little Emma already and she isn't even here yet! So i promised I would tell details about everything so here we go. If you don't want to read all of this just skip to the pictures. :)
Steve and I had tried for 10 months to get pregnant and it was hard. They say ONLY 10 months that's nothin...which it is but it feels like forever when you want something so bad. About 8 months of trying I knew there was something wrong so my friend Dani told me to go to her OB and she would give me some clomid. I went to her and she made me track and do blood work etc. I was ovulating but my periods were 28 to 41 days. It was never consistent. So finally in March she gave me the smallest dose of clomid and needless to say it WORKED!!!!! We found out at the end of April and it was so funny to see Steve so nervous. He was actually the first one to see if there was two lines or not. He walked into the bathroom and picked it up and started smiling. I was so nervous to look at it but there was one line and one faint line. We both just started crying and I called my mom to make sure that I was pregnant and she said if you have never seen two lines before I think your pregnant. :) We were the happiest couple that day. Then the morning sickness started to kick in the next month and continued til about the second trimester. I felt lucky about my morning sickness because it was more of I threw up in the morning and maybe at night but I was fine the rest of the day.
Then came the BIG day where we got to find out what we were having!!!! My mom and Steve were with me and boy was I happy they were both there that day. My Dr. didn't do the ultrasound because she just came back to practice so her new office doesn't have the equipment for it so she sent us to Provo. The tech did the usual check everything and then told us we were having a girl and everyone was excited. I thought it was going to be a boy but I wanted a girl deep down. ;) Then the Dr. came in and said there was no post marks on the ultrasound so that was good and then when she was done she told us that this was the part she hated about her job. Immediately my heart sank and I didn't know if she was kidding or serious. She then proceeded to tell us that her cerebellum was not all the way closed and that she was pretty sure that she had what was called a Dandy-Walker Variant. She told us that there was a 75% chance she could be normal or she might have some developmental delays but we just wont know until she gets here. She said a lot of people don't even know that they have this variant unless they get an MRI but they walk around just normal. The Dr. then said that we might want to see if she was Down Syndrome too. This was ALOT of information to take in and I am so grateful that my mom was there. She asked questions that we needed to know and didn't know to ask and I am so happy she was there to ask those questions and support us. After the Dr left I just melted down (again) into Steve arms and didn't know what to think. Steve held and cried with me as we tried to process all this new information.
We went right to the lab to get the blood work done to see if she was DS and then went shopping to see if that would cheer us up a bit. After praying and talking to our family members that night we decided to take the next day off work and go up to Park City and do some more shopping and relax and boy did that help. I called MY Dr the next day to see if she had the results of the test and she wanted us to come in and talk to her and I am so glad we did. Emma isn't Down's and my Dr. made us feel so much better about the situation. Emma didn't have any other problems with her ultrasound which was good and there was no Fluid on the brain which was the biggest relief. She told us ALL parents worry about their children and that she feels Emma is going to be just fine as long as all her ultrasounds are normal. So I have to go in every month to make sure she is growing healthy and strong and she is!!! My Dr. told us that this happens in like 1 out of 30,000 pregnancy's and her chances up to the 75% range if every time she has an normal ultrasound. After praying and more praying both Steve and I feel like Emma is going to be "normal" and we really wont knew if she has a learning delay until she is about 5 years old anyways. But we both feel so blessed to have little Emma in our lives and I told Steve Emma was the most prefect name for her because like Emma Smith she went through a lot but she was strong and so is our Emma. :) I am so grateful Heavenly Father has sent her to us and I can't wait to meet her in less then 10 weeks! So every month we get to see Emma and she is so stinkin cute and is doing what she needs to be doing each month. Our last appointment they did it in 3D which was so cool!!! She has Steve's nose and lips. :) She is 2.9 lbs right now and is doing great. We get to meet her December 19th (I hope). My Dr. said we could do that date since she is leaving for St. George the day after Christmas which Emma is suppose to be due on the 25th. So I will be doing everything possible to have Emma that early. So if you know how to get babies out early let me know. ;)
So there you have our story so far...Emma is growing healthy and strong and we can't wait to have her out so we can hold her. Her nursery is all painted and the crib is up we just need to decorate it and she can come. :) We love you Emma!
